MSPs 2016 Trends

These Trends for MSPs Aren’t Going Anywhere

First quarter of 2016 is over and there is still a lot of speculation on what will be the hot trends for Managed Service Providers (MSP) this year. One of the biggest trends, and we don’t see it going away anytime soon, is the emphasis on protecting data regardless of location. In 2015, working remotely saw a huge spike as well as allowing employees to bring their own devices to work. MSPs need to work with companies to offer protection for these devices against various cyber threats.

With this trend in working remotely, Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platform providers like LabTech Software and Continuum have increased their service offerings. Expect to see new features and added value to both MSPs and their clients.

It is clear that mobile isn’t going anywhere. The real question is how to manage customers and protect their data while using their mobile devices. When MSPS help their clients to understand proper Mobile Device Management (MDM), they provide a much needed, and often over-looked service. MSPs need to support their clients where they need it most and right now that is clearly on mobile.

Cloud backup is booming, and as an MSP, you should be offering this service to your customers. MSPs that jump on this bandwagon could provide data protection to their customers for years. Cloud backup is now a priority for clients and MSPs need to recognize this demand and provide a top-notch service.

Two-factor authentication in addition to identity and access management have become important to MSPs. Don’t expect this trend to end anytime soon! Expect more devices, software applications, and data management systems requiring them.

One trend that has picked up speed is vendors consolidating services and merging with other companies. MSPs need to evaluate their vendor portfolios and pick the best-of-the-best to solve their clients’ needs. This allows the MSPs to have the best vendor partners in place that then allows their customers to grow and know they will have the support and protection that they need when they need it.
